The Lord is my strength: a psalm's own words, the opening of a verse that goes on, my song, and he has become my salvation, so the scroll carries the first clause and a person who hangs it can say the rest. The words are the Japan Bible Society's colloquial Bible's, the first Japanese Bible in plain speech, character for character, so a buyer who owns that Bible will open it and find the sentence on the wall. 主 is the Lord, that Bible's word for the divine name; the older classical Bible wrote the name itself, Jehovah, so the same verse in the voice a Japanese Christian's grandparents heard is a different sentence. Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase brushes your scroll by hand when you order it. Each scroll bears her red seal, 英利, and her signature.

The scrolls are 12 1/4" W × 43" H (31 × 109 cm) with real silk borders and Japanese paper that are layered so the scroll hangs straight and will not warp over time. The scrolls themselves are made by Sankō (株式会社三幸) in Gifu prefecture, which has been making high quality scrolls since 1947, and we have worked with Sankō for over two decades.
