Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase

Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, Eri Takase received the rank of Shihan, master, from two calligraphy societies, the Bokuteki-kai and Bunka-shodō, and won best-of-category awards in all-Japan national competitions. She has created calligraphy for people around the world for more than thirty years, and with your order she will be creating calligraphy for you.

In a ritual as old as calligraphy itself, Master Takase prepares the ink, meditatively rubbing the ink stick against the stone until it reaches the perfect consistency for the paper. Then, properly loading the brush with ink, she brushes your scroll. And only when the scroll is just right and meets her approval, she signs it and affixes her seal, completing your original scroll.

Explanation

夢実現 is three characters for a hope made real. 夢 here is a dream in its modern sense, something hoped for, and 実現 is realization, turning a hope into fact. It is 夢の実現 with its の dropped, and it reads the way a headline or a poster reads: the same hope, said faster.

夢実現 is composed of the words 夢 (read yume) meaning "dream; dreams" and 実現 (read jitsugen) meaning "to realize; to make happen".

The phrase reads as 夢の実現, the realization of a dream, with its particle dropped the way a headline drops it; in the National Diet Library's full-text index the full phrase is first used in 1903, and 夢 and 實現 first stand together without the particle in 1918, in a Japanese volume of Tolstoy's letters, and the short form is a heading by 1925.
