Never Give Up in Japanese is 決して諦めない which is read kesshite akiramenai
決して諦めない (kesshite akiramenai): never give up.
決して諦めない is a plain sentence of resolve. 決して, with a negative, means never. 諦めない is not giving up. 諦める is to stop because you see no hope, and its first character, 諦, is to see a thing clearly and let it go. So the line holds on even when the end looks plain to see. It reads as a resolution rather than a shout. Whether you hang it where you train or give it to someone in a long fight is yours.
Never Give Up is the refrain of Martin Farquhar Tupper's ballad Never give up!, in print by 1845; Churchill's words at Harrow in 1941 were never give in. The Japanese 決して諦めない is in print by 1918, of the French army.

About Our Scrolls
Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase brushes your scroll by hand when you order it. Each scroll bears her red seal, 英利, and her signature.
The scrolls are 12 1/4" W × 43" H (31 × 109 cm) with real silk borders and Japanese paper that are layered so the scroll hangs straight and will not warp over time. The scrolls themselves are made by Sankō (株式会社三幸) in Gifu prefecture, which has been making high quality scrolls since 1947, and we have worked with Sankō for over two decades.
Eri Takase was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, and holds the rank of Shihan, the highest rank in Japanese calligraphy, from the Bokuteki-kai and the Bunka-shodo. About Master Takase
