Follow Your Heart in Japanese is 心の儘 which is read kokoro no mama
心の儘 (kokoro no mama): as the heart wills; following one's own heart.
In 心の儘, 心 is the heart and the mind together, and 儘 is the state of a thing as it stands. So the phrase names the condition of doing what one's heart directs. The dictionaries give it as just as one thinks, at one's own discretion, to one's heart's content. Freedom is its sense. Follow your heart has the sense right; the Japanese describes the state where the English gives the instruction. 儘 is the full form of the character, and the word is also written in kana or with 侭, all one word.
心の儘 is a Heian phrase, as the heart wills, in the 竹取物語 of about 900 and in the 源氏物語, where it can already carry license as well as freedom, doing as one pleases.

About Our Scrolls
Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase brushes your scroll by hand when you order it. Each scroll bears her red seal, 英利, and her signature.
The scrolls are 12 1/4" W × 43" H (31 × 109 cm) with real silk borders and Japanese paper that are layered so the scroll hangs straight and will not warp over time. The scrolls themselves are made by Sankō (株式会社三幸) in Gifu prefecture, which has been making high quality scrolls since 1947, and we have worked with Sankō for over two decades.
Eri Takase was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, and holds the rank of Shihan, the highest rank in Japanese calligraphy, from the Bokuteki-kai and the Bunka-shodo. About Master Takase
