Favorable Turn Of Fortune in Japanese is 一陽来復 which is read ichiyō raifuku
一陽来復 (ichiyō raifuku): the turn for the better.
一陽来復 is the turn: a hard time ending and a better one beginning. The same words name the winter solstice, the shortest day, when the light starts back, and so the new year. It is one picture read at three distances, and the tradition keeps all three. Said to someone in a hard year, it does not claim that things are good. It says the turn has come, and it cannot be undone. Which distance you hang it at is yours.
ichiyō raifuku is composed of the kanji 一 (read ichi) meaning "one", 陽 (read yō) meaning "yang", 来 (read rai) meaning "comes", and 復 (read fuku) meaning "restoration".
This art encourages us that good fortune is just around the corner and would make a positive and inspirational gift.
From the I Ching's hexagram of Return, one yang line coming back beneath five yin at the winter solstice; the four characters are first found at the Song court around 1000, and came to Japan in the solstice sermons of the Zen masters of the thirteenth century.

About Our Scrolls
Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase brushes your scroll by hand when you order it. Each scroll bears her red seal, 英利, and her signature.
The scrolls are 12 1/4" W × 43" H (31 × 109 cm), with woven damask borders and layered Japanese paper, designed to last generations. The scrolls themselves are made by a scroll maker in Gifu, Japan, and we have worked with them for over two decades.
Eri Takase was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, and holds the rank of Shihan, the highest rank in Japanese calligraphy, from the Bokuteki-kai and the Bunka-shodo. About Master Takase
