主は我が力 (shu wa waga chikara): the Lord is my strength. The verse is Psalm 118:14, and the words are the Japan Bible Society's colloquial translation of 1955, which continues: my song, and he has become my salvation. 主, the Lord, is that Bible's word for the divine name; the classical Bible of 1887 wrote the name itself, ヱホバ, Jehovah, so the same verse on a scroll seventy years earlier would have been a different sentence. The title is the phrase both the King James and the New International Version use.
