Kimura Shukokai Karate-Do

木村修交会空手道 (kimura shūkōkai karatedō). 修交会 shūkōkai, an association for training and meeting, is the name Tani Chōjirō carved over his dōjō in Kobe after receiving his teacher's certificate from Mabuni Kenwa in 1946; the school's own English for it is the way for all. His senior pupil Kimura Shigeru taught in Africa, in England and, from 1970, in the United States, and the power-centered form he taught came to be called Kimura Shukokai. With 木村 Kimura in front and 空手道 karatedō after, the design is the house's own Japanese for that English name, made for its members, in the order the English gives it.
