一石二鳥 (issekinichou)
The Japanese phrase "issekinichō" meaning "Killing two birds with one stone" literally translates as "one stone, two birds". Unusually, this four-character phrase entered Japanese as a direct translation of the English idiom in the Meiji era; the older Chinese-rooted equivalent is 一挙両得 (ikkyo ryōtoku).
