信念 shinnen Faith

信念 is faith in the sense of conviction: a belief held firmly. It is the faith of a person who stands by what they believe. For faith in a god or a religion, Japanese uses 信仰 (shinkō).

The Japanese word 信念 meaning "Faith" is composed of the kanji 信 (read shin) meaning "faith; truth; fidelity" and 念 (read nen) meaning "wish; sense; idea".
