知恵 (chie)
The Japanese word 知恵 translates as "wisdom; wit; sagacity" and is composed of the kanji 知 (read chi) meaning "knowledge; wisdom" and 恵 (read e) meaning "favor; blessing; grace; kindness". Dictionaries correctly give the translation for both chie and kenmei as "wisdom". In common Japanese usage though 知恵 is more often translated as "wisdom" and 賢明 Wise (kenmei) as "wise" and so we have made this distinction here.
