科学者 kagakusha Scientist

科学者 is a scientist, a person whose work is science, 科学 (kagaku). Someone who does research in any field is 研究者 (kenkyūsha).

The Japanese word 科学者 meaning "Scientist" is composed of the kanji 科 (read ka) meaning "department; course; section", 学 (read gaku) meaning "study; learning; science", and 者 (read sha) meaning "someone; person".
