聖域 seiiki Sanctuary

聖域 is a sanctuary: sacred precincts, holy ground. It is also used for a subject no one may touch, a matter not open to discussion.

The Japanese word 聖域 meaning "Sanctuary" is composed of the kanji 聖 (read sei) meaning "holy; saint; sage" and 域 (read iki) meaning "range; region; limits".
