望みを抱いて喜び nozomi wo idaite yorokobi Romans 12-12 Be Joyful in Hope

Be joyful in hope: the first of three things one verse asks in a breath, rejoice in hope, endure in trouble, keep praying, so the words carry the first and a person who chooses them knows the other two. Two Japanese Bibles carry the words: the 新改訳, a Japanese Bible first published in 1970, prints these characters exactly, and the Japan Bible Society's colloquial Bible, prints the same words with 抱 in kana, so a reader who owns either will find the same sentence there. 抱いて, holding, is the verb both Bibles use for in hope; the older classical Bible said it in two words. The English title is the New International Version's phrase for the verse. What you hope for is yours.
