The Japanese word tanuki translates as "raccoon dog" and is a single kanji word. The Tanuki of Japan is covered with legend and is said to be a mischievous creature. Sly and crafty people are called "tanuki". This idea inspired the design VD2A where I added small, evil horns.
For more information see the Wikipedia article Tanuki.
Each design is Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase's hand-brushed calligraphy of the word or phrase on this page, delivered as a PDF you can print. Every PDF includes the line art, so a tattoo artist or a craftsperson can work from the outline as well as the brushed image.
