梅 ume Plum Blossom

The Japanese word ume refers to the blossom as well as to the fruit and the tree. Plum blossoms are beautiful, fragrant flowers and, because they are one of the first to bloom, are considered a harbinger of spring and are often referenced in Japanese poetry.
