平安 heian Peace

平安 is peace as calm and safety, a life free from trouble. It is also the name of the Heian period (794 to 1185), when the capital was 平安京 (Heian-kyō), today's Kyoto.

The Japanese word 平安 meaning "Peace" is composed of the kanji 平 (read hei) meaning "even; flat; peace" and 安 (read an) meaning "peaceful; quiet".
