情熱 jōnetsu Passion

情熱 is a feeling that burns toward something. The Daijisen dictionary gives a passion for research and a passion for soccer as its examples. JMdict gives zeal beside passion. A person full of it is 情熱家 (jōnetsuka).

The Japanese word 情熱 meaning "Passion" is composed of the kanji 情 (read jō) meaning "feelings; emotion; passion" and 熱 (read netsu) meaning "heat; fever; passion".
