逆説 gyakusetsu Paradox

逆説 is a paradox. It says two things that seem to clash, and yet both are true. Paradoxical is 逆説的 (gyakusetsuteki).

The Japanese word 逆説 meaning "Paradox" is composed of the kanji 逆 (read gyaku) meaning "inverted; reverse; opposite" and 説 (read setsu) meaning "opinion; theory; explanation".
