忍者 ninja Ninja
More about 忍者
忍者 is a ninja, a person hired for secret work in feudal Japan: spying, sabotage and more. Their training in stealth and combat is 忍術 (ninjutsu).
The Japanese word 忍者 meaning "Ninja" is composed of the kanji 忍 (read nin) meaning "conceal; spy; endure" and 者 (read sha) meaning "person". Together they are read ninja, because the sounds change where the characters meet: 者 sha becomes ja after 忍.
