音楽 ongaku Music

音楽 is music, the art of sound, sung by the voice or played on instruments. In the word's old sense, 音 was the singing voice and 楽 the sound of instruments.

The Japanese word 音楽 meaning "Music" is composed of the kanji 音 (read on) meaning "sound; noise" and 楽 (read gaku) meaning "music; comfort; ease".
