山脈 sanmyaku Mountain Range
More about 山脈
山脈 is a mountain range, a chain of peaks running on in a long line. Its 脈 is a vein, a line that runs unbroken, as in 鉱脈 (kōmyaku), a vein of ore. The same kanji can also be read yamanami.
The Japanese word 山脈 meaning "Mountain Range" is composed of the kanji 山 (read san) meaning "mountain" and 脈 (read myaku) meaning "vein; pulse; hope".
