草原 sōgen Meadow
More about 草原
草原 is a wide stretch of flat land covered in grass. The word reaches from a meadow to the great grasslands, the prairie, the steppe and the savanna. Read kusahara, it is a grassy field.
The Japanese word 草原 meaning "Meadow" is composed of the kanji 草 (read sō) meaning "grass; weeds; herbs" and 原 (read gen) meaning "meadow; original; primitive".
