愛 ai Love

愛 is love in the widest sense: love between two people, a parent's love for a child, love for family, friends or a pet. In Christian writing it is agape, the love of God. It is the everyday word for love, and for most designs the one we suggest.

愛情 is love as affection, the feeling of caring for someone. A loving person is 愛情深い (aijōbukai). Showing your love is 愛情表現 (aijō hyōgen). For most designs we suggest 愛 (ai), the everyday word.

The Japanese word 愛情 meaning "Love" is composed of the kanji 愛 (read ai) meaning "love; affection" and 情 (read jō) meaning "feeling; emotion; passion".

慈愛 is love and fondness, and most of all a parent's love for a child. Its first character means mercy, so it is a gentle, caring love.
