百合 yuri Lily

百合 is the lily. A lily bulb, eaten in Japanese cooking, is 百合根 (yurine). In manga and anime, yuri is also the name of a genre of stories about love between women.

The Japanese word 百合 meaning "Lily" is composed of the kanji 百 (read yu) meaning "one hundred" and 合 (read ri) meaning "meetings".
