狂気 kyōki Insanity

狂気 is madness or insanity, a mind that has lost its hold on reason. Japanese calls a crazy deed 狂気の沙汰, the height of madness.

The Japanese word 狂気 meaning "Insanity" is composed of the kanji 狂 (read kyō) meaning "lunatic; insane; crazy" and 気 (read ki) meaning "spirit; mind; air".
