居合道 (iaidou)

The Japanese word 居合道 is used in English as "Iaido" and refers to the art of quickly drawing the sword. The word is composed of the kanji (read i) meaning "exist, be present", (read ai) meaning "fit; join; suit; meet" and (read dou) meaning "teachings, the way". Together these characters are meant to represent "the way of mental presence and immediate reaction".
