愛してる (aishiteru)

The Japanese phrase "愛してる" is actually just a verb 愛してる (read aishiteru) which literally means "loving". Notice that both the subject and the object are omitted. Japanese is classified as a "pro-drop" (pronoun drop) language where the pronouns are commonly omitted. Here the "I" and the "You" are self-evident and so omitted. Hence the Japanese do not say "I love you" they actually say "loving" or aishiteru.
