Fine Japanese Calligraphy

The Art of Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase

Hunter

狩人 (kariudo)

The Japanese word 狩人 meaning "Hunter" is composed of the kanji (read kari) meaning "hunt, hunting" and (read udo) meaning "person". Note that the kanji for "person" is common, but this reading is rare. Commonly 人 in a similar situation would be read as either hito or bito. Exceptions like this happen often making Japanese a difficult language to learn how to read.
