蜜月 mitsugetsu Honeymoon
More about 蜜月
蜜月 is the honeymoon, the first month or so of a marriage. The wedding trip is 蜜月旅行 (mitsugetsu ryokō). The word was made to translate the English honeymoon, honey and moon one for one. It is also said of any close bond in its best days, as in 蜜月時代 (mitsugetsu jidai).
The Japanese word 蜜月 meaning "Honeymoon" is composed of the kanji 蜜 (read mitsu) meaning "honey" and 月 (read getsu) meaning "moon".
