孫 mago Grandchild

The Japanese word mago is a single kanji word meaning "Grandchild; Grandchildren" . Which is to say mago means both ""Grandchild" and "Grandchildren". This is because, as Wikipedia's Japanese Language puts it, "Japanese nouns have no grammatical number, gender or article aspect ." And so mago naturally refers to one or more grandchildren.
