Fine Japanese Calligraphy

The Art of Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase

Girl Power

女力 (meriki)

The Japanese kanji combination 女力 meaning "Girl Power" is worn by several stars and is composed of the kanji (read me) meaning "woman; female; girl" and (read riki) meaning "strong; powerful".

The kanji (read me) for "woman" was originally the pictograph of a woman on her knees in supplication. This inspired Ms. Takase to create this original design of a woman standing with her arm raised above her head in defiance.

Verify: 女力 in the Japanese-English Dictionary

This art celebrates the physically and mentally strong woman and would make the perfect gift for the athlete or the strong woman on your shopping list.
