堅忍 kennin Fortitude

堅忍 is perseverance. It is the first half of 堅忍不抜 (kennin fubatsu), a strength that cannot be shaken. 堅忍持久 (kennin jikyū) is patience that does not tire.

The Japanese word 堅忍 meaning "Fortitude" is composed of the kanji 堅 (read ken) meaning "strict; hard; tough; reliable" and 忍 (read nin) meaning "endure; bear".
