The Japanese word 堅忍 also means "perseverance" and is composed of the kanji堅 (read ken) meaning "strict; hard; tough; reliable" and 忍 (read nin) meaning "endure; bear". 堅忍 is one of the Seven Heavenly Virtues and is one of the Four Cardinal Virtues. This artwork is a beautiful visual reminder of the fundamental importance of being strong when times are tough. With fortitude we can overcome.
