進化 shinka Evolution

進化 is evolution, the slow change of living things from one generation to the next. It is also said of anything that grows more advanced, such as a method or a style. The theory of evolution is 進化論 (shinkaron).

The Japanese word 進化 meaning "Evolution" is composed of the kanji 進 (read shin) meaning "advance; progress; proceed" and 化 (read ka) meaning "change; influence; take the form of".
