Fine Japanese Calligraphy

The Art of Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase

Doctor

医者 (isha)

The Japanese word isha means specifically a "(medical) doctor" and "physician" and is composed of the kanji (read i) meaning "doctor; medicine" and (read sha) meaning "person". Like most Japanese words, and like the English word Doctor, isha does not have a gender and so refers to both male and female physicians.
