金剛 kongō Diamond

金剛 is the Sanskrit vajra put into Japanese: the hardest of all things, what cannot be broken. In Buddhism it stands for a truth that nothing can break. The diamond as a gem is 金剛石 (kongōseki), and 金剛力 (kongōriki) is strength beyond a human's.

The Japanese word 金剛 meaning "Diamond" is composed of the kanji 金 (read kon) meaning "gold" and 剛 (read gō) meaning "sturdy; strength".
