珊瑚 sango Coral

珊瑚 is coral. It also names the color coral, a light red. A coral reef is 珊瑚礁 (sangoshō). The coral wedding, for 35 years of marriage, is 珊瑚婚式 (sangokonshiki).

The Japanese word 珊瑚 meaning "Coral" is composed of the kanji 珊 (read san) meaning "coral; centimeter" and 瑚 (read go) meaning "ancestral offering receptacle; coral".
