自信 jishin Confidence

自信 is confidence in yourself, trust in what you can do. A person brimming with it is 自信満々 (jishin manman). Said aloud, jishin is also 地震, an earthquake.

The Japanese word 自信 meaning "Confidence" is composed of the kanji 自 (read ji) meaning "self, oneself" and 信 (read shin) meaning "believe, believe in, trust, have faith in".
