均衡 kinkō Balance

均衡 is balance in the sense of equilibrium: weights or forces that even each other out. It can also be a verb: to be in balance. Both characters carry the idea: 均 is level and even, and 衡 is a measuring scale.

The Japanese word 均衡 meaning "Balance" is composed of the kanji 均 (read kin) meaning "level; average" and 衡 (read kō) meaning "equilibrium; (measuring) scale".
