冒険 bōken Adventure

冒険 is an adventure, a venture into the unknown. The same word also means a risky attempt, one that may well fail. An adventurer is 冒険家 (bōkenka), and a spirit of adventure is 冒険心 (bōkenshin).

The Japanese word 冒険 meaning "Adventure" is composed of the kanji 冒 (read bō) meaning "risk; defy; dare" and 険 (read ken) meaning "precipitous; steep place; dangerous".
